We are definitely on to something at BarkerGilmore. According to Erin Harrison, former editor-in-chief for Legaltech News, as more legal work remains in-house across corporate America, “legal departments are running more like a business, and the latest figures prove it.” The numbers to which she is referring are cited in the 8th Annual Law Department Operations Survey conducted by the Blickstein Group and Huron Legal.

  • 56% of legal departments have formalized metrics or a reporting program to track legal spend by law firm and total legal spend as a percentage of revenue
  • 35% use data mining and analytics to predict discovery costs
  • 92% use alternative fee arrangements

Today’s legal teams are not only expected to add value to the company, but deliver more of that value for “less.” How do they achieve superior business results and drive revenue growth? What fuels the most successful high performance legal teams? We recently hosted a webinar and posed these questions to a panel of BarkerGilmore’s distinguished and experienced General Counsel who’ve led their own corporate legal teams to success.
