Maureen Brundage is a Strategic Advisor and Coach at BarkerGilmore, providing advisory services, as well as executive coaching to General Counsel and other in-house counsel. She brings to each engagement her incomparable experience in leading global legal teams, advising management and corporate boards, and coaching and mentoring attorneys and non-attorneys at all stages of their careers. In her Strategic Advisor and Coach role, she has helped General Counsel assess and optimize the structure and staffing of their departments and worked with them to develop necessary action plans. In addition, she has guided her coaching clients in navigating workplace challenges and developing the skills they need for success, as well as readying themselves to explore, and possibly transition to, other opportunities.

Maureen serves on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of MAPFRE U.S.A. Corp., a property and casualty insurance company. She also has been involved with many nonprofit organizations, including Jersey Battered Women’s Service, Inc., where she was a Board member, Chair of the Compensation Committee, and a member of its CEO Search Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the International Boards Committee of DirectWomen, which is focused on increasing the number of women attorneys serving on Boards of Directors, and has been a panelist and advisor at DirectWomen’s annual Board Institute and other events.
Maureen is a sought-after speaker who frequently presents on topics such as the GC as a strategic business partner, leadership, and pathways to board service. In recognition of all her accomplishments, she received in 2016 the Lifetime Achievement Award from The New Jersey Law Journal.
Education
Maureen earned her B.A. in Economics from Fordham University and attended The London School of Economics. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of its Annual Survey of American Law.

Experience
For over 10 years, Maureen served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & Chief Ethics Officer of The Chubb Corporation, one of the largest publicly traded property and casualty insurers. She was a member of the Executive Committee and a key strategic advisor to the Board, the CEO, and the rest of the senior management team. She led a 135-person global team, overseeing legal, regulatory, compliance, government affairs, and corporate secretarial functions. During her tenure, she optimized the functioning, productivity, and efficiency of the legal department through various restructurings and innovative development undertakings. She also spearheaded numerous risk and compliance initiatives, including creating an award-winning compliance and ethics program, establishing a regulatory compliance group, and implementing a global enterprise risk management assessment process. In addition, Maureen was involved in diversity activities across the organization, as well as the mentorship of individuals both inside and outside the company.
Before joining Chubb, Maureen was a partner at White & Case LLP where she headed the Global Securities Practice Group and a global staff of more than 150 lawyers. In addition to her leadership role, Maureen represented domestic and international companies in diverse industries in connection with initial public offerings, other securities offerings, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate transactions, as well as advising on corporate governance, crisis management, SEC reporting, and general corporate matters.
