Bjarne serves as a Strategic Advisor and Executive Coach, partnering with General Counsel and legal department leaders to drive operational excellence, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development. With more than 30 years of global legal and executive experience, he provides counsel on legal department strategy, talent development, career transitions and succession planning, and transformation initiatives, including spin-offs, IPOs, and digital modernization. Bjarne brings a unique blend of C-suite insight and hands-on expertise, helping legal teams evolve into high-performing, business-aligned functions.

Bjarne is the CEO of a boutique consultancy specializing in organizational excellence, digital transformation, and talent development in the legal industry. He is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and a Senior Advisor to G3, a global business intelligence, risk, and cyber advisory group.

He has sat on numerous other public and private boards, including Mowi ASA (one of Norway’s largest public companies), a $10 billion publicly traded Japanese beverage company, Germany’s largest beverage business, and a U.S. tech-driven recruiting firm.

Bjarne is also a member of the UK Civil Justice Council’s Futures Group, which advises the UK Government on the long-term impact of technology on justice. In addition, he is an advisor to the University of Chicago, Boston University, and Lex Mundi, the world’s largest network of law firms.

Bjarne is a founding faculty member of the Global General Counsel Academy at King’s College, London, and at the Digital Legal Exchange, as well as a faculty member of the General Counsel Academy in the Netherlands. He was previously Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Law, and he has regularly lectured on technology, team optimisation, and strategy in the legal context at various institutions, including Harvard, Yale, LSE, and Columbia. He also recently co-authored a law review article on digital transformation in legal departments.

His accolades include General Counsel of the Year (British Legal Awards), Legal Era’s GC Award, the Burton Awards’ “Legends in the Law,” Legal 500’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and recognition in Chambers’ GC Influencers Global 100, among others.

Bjarne earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School, his M.Sc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics, his B.A. (summa cum laude) from Boston University, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Experience

Bjarne is a seasoned international legal executive with a track record of leadership across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. As Founding General Counsel and Executive Committee member of Haleon plc, he co-led the company’s historic £32 billion de-merger from GSK, the largest spin-off and stock exchange listing in modern UK history, and he built a global legal and compliance function from the ground up.

Previously, he served as SVP and General Counsel of GSK Consumer Healthcare, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Pearson plc, and held senior legal roles at Aramco, The Coca-Cola Company, Kimberly-Clark, Ltd., Sullivan & Cromwell, and White & Case.

Bjarne is also the author of Building an Outstanding Legal Team: Battle-Tested Strategies from a General Counsel, which is widely recognized as a leading reference for in-house leaders. His forthcoming book, Law in the Era of AI: Clients, Firms, and the Future of the Legal Industry, explores the impact of artificial intelligence on the legal services market and will be published in early 2026.
